Super Squid

We have been reading the big book Super Squid. Did you know that giant squid have eyes as big as dinner plates.

Today in our Cybersmart lesson we watched a video about 10 facts about giant quid and then did an online quiz in Blooket. Teachers can make a quiz on Blooket and then the class can play it in 2 ways.

If you play it “Live” everyone plays together with speed and accuracy giving points. We could see the time each person took to answer the question and their accuracy after each question. We played it twice and here are our results.

Ka pai to mahi Billy!

Then you can play it in “Homework” mode. Each player joins when they are ready and competes to complete stages by answering the questions. Interestingly the answers appear in different places each time you go to the questions.

Here is the leaderboard from the end of our Cybersmart lesson.

Using our Chromebook to do the Mahi

Today in our Cybersmart lesson we turned on 2 accessibility features on our Chromebooks: Select-to-speak & Dictation.

Select-to-speak enables us to select some text on our screen and our Chromebook will read it to us. This can be a word, a sentence, a paragraph or a whole page.

Dictation allows us to speak to our device and it will type the text for us.

We practised using these 2 features today to read about birds and answer some questions.

Here is Atena’s mahi.
